about me

Let’s Get to Know Each Other
Hi! I’m Gabriele Testa, a videomaker from Saluzzo, though since 2019, you’ll find me in Turin for work.
I love cinematography and cinematic aesthetics because I believe the right image can tell more than a thousand words. But above all, I love telling the stories of people who are often invisible—those who deserve to be seen and heard. This approach guides everything I do, from documentaries to commercial projects, because an authentic story always leaves a mark.
How It All Started
Many videomakers have epic stories about their first encounter with a camera. I don’t.
There was no love at first sight, no cherished childhood gift. One day, I simply started shooting and editing videos… and never stopped. It became my daily routine—the thing that made me feel like I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
What fascinated me (and still does) is the perfect balance in this work: on one side, the technical aspect—lighting, framing, editing—on the other, creativity, which turns an image into emotion.

Education & Experience
By my third year of high school, I already knew I wanted to study at APM in Saluzzo, an excellent school with an intensive videomaking program. After graduating in computer science, I enrolled and spent a year living and breathing video—eight hours a day of shooting, editing, and post-production. The course ended with an internship at a production company, and mine was at Smart Factory. After the internship, they hired me, and I worked there for four years, learning everything: from editing to client management, from on-set filming to compositing in After Effects.
In 2023, I chose to go freelance. I wanted more creative freedom, more stories to tell, and more opportunities to express my vision.
My Approach
I believe my work should adapt to the project and the people I collaborate with. I enjoy finding the right language for every story, whether it’s a documentary or a commercial. I don’t do things halfway—I’m a perfectionist, and I want to be satisfied with every single frame.

In recent years, I’ve focused mainly on human and social themes, with a special love for documentaries. My latest project took me to Nepal, an experience that brought together everything I love: the aesthetic beauty of cinema and the power of a real, human story.
Camera Nerd
And then, there’s the other side of me: the ultimate camera nerd. Leave me alone on set, and you’ll probably find me tweaking my rig, finding a better way to balance the gimbal, or cleaning lenses. Basically, like a kid with LEGOs—but with cinema gear.

Let’s Work Together!
If you have a project in mind and need someone who can blend artistic vision with technical expertise (always essential!), I’d love to bring it to life with you. 😊
